Police Chase Murder Suspect
The standoff created a traffic nightmare on Lake Shore Drive with police diverting traffic off well away from the scene. Joggers and cyclists were also being turned back along the path there.
According to Harvey Police, the Hampton, Ga Police Department contacted them Sunday about a homicide suspect they believed was in Harvey. Harvey police showed up where the suspects was believed to be hiding. The suspect took off and police followed him onto I-57 and I-94 before the chase ended on Lake Shore Drive.
Henry County Sheriff's Sergeant Joey Smith says authorities were called to a home just outside Hampton, Georgia, Saturday - after family members of 39-year-old woman, Sheray Latriest Felton, forced their way in and found her body.
Authorities issued a murder warrant for her husband, Joseph Andrew Felton Jr.
And about 12:30 this afternoon, Sergeant Smith says Felton was located in Harvey, Illinois, and the chase began.
"We knew he had family up in that area... We were notifying the agencies up in that area to be on the lookout for that vehicle. Evidently someone must have spotted it."
Sergeant Smith says police were called to the Felton home in January for a domestic assault and Felton was arrested.
He says the couple moved from the Chicago area to Georgia about four months ago.
Chicago police had no immediate comment.
