Police Catch Suspects After Video Game Store Robbery
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Police say two West Side men made a trek to the city's South Side to rob a video game store, but failed in their attempt to escape on the Dan Ryan Expressway.
Daniel Sample, 31, of the 5300 block of West Crystal Street, and Orlando White, 32, of the 5400 block of West Race Avenue, are both charged with armed robbery stemming from the incident near 87th Street and the Dan Ryan.
White is also charged with one count of aggravated fleeing police, and has received three traffic tickets.
Officers were on patrol in the 0-99 block of West 87th Street Thursday afternoon, when a man flagged them down and said his video game store had been robbed at gunpoint.
The man pointed out the robbers' getaway car, and a bulletin went out. The men got on the Dan Ryan to escape, but officers caught up and stopped their car after a short distance, police said.
The men were arrested without incident, and police recovered the cash from the robbery and a 9mm handgun.
Sample and White are set to appear for a bond hearing Friday at the Cook County Criminal Courthouse.
