Police Catch Robber In The Act On Southwest Side
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Police foiled a gunpoint robbery in the Southwest Side's Ashburn neighborhood Thursday evening, and the alleged robber has been arrested on felony charges.
Around 9:45 p.m. Thursday, Chicago Lawn District police were patrolling around the 8400 block of South Kedzie Avenue, when they saw a masked man robbing two other men at gunpoint against a wall.
The officers came up and ordered the suspect to drop his gun, but he ran off with the gun in his hand, police said.
Police chased the suspect for a while, but ultimately arrested him without incident.
The suspect, QuoiQuoi Murphy, 22, of the 3300 block of West 84th Street, was charged with armed robbery with a firearm. The handgun he allegedly used was recovered, as well as the proceeds from the robbery.
Murphy was to appear in Central Bond Court (Br. 1) at the Cook county Criminal Courthouse for a bond hearing Friday.
