Police Capture Gold Coast Carjacking Suspect
CHICAGO (STMW) - Witnesses were able to detain a suspect after he allegedly knocked down a 72-year-old man and drove off with his car in the Gold Coast Tuesday evening.
Ellis Partee, 55, of the 6200 block of North Hoyne Avenue, was charged with aggravated vehicular hijacking, according to a police News Affairs release. Partee was also wanted on a warrant.
The victim is a 72-year-old man, but his injuries were not immediately known, according to police News Affairs Officer Ron Gaines.
At 5:30 p.m. in the 800 block of North Rush Street, Partee allegedly approached the man who was picking up his spouse from work and knocked him to the ground before driving off in his 2008 Hyundai, the release said.
Witnesses who saw Partee were somehow able to detain him until police got there, according to Gaines.
Partee will appear for a bond hearing later Wednesday, the release said.
