Police: Body Found In Evanston Could Be Missing Des Plaines Woman
EVANSTON, Ill. (STMW) -- A body found Sunday morning along the shore of Lake Michigan in north suburban Evanston could be of a woman who had been missing from Des Plaines since late February.
A person walking near Lake Michigan in the 800 block of Sheridan Road in Evanston spotted the body washed up on the rocks about 11:45 a.m., Evanston Police Cmdr. Jay Parrott said.
The body is of an adult woman and could be Debra Fredricksen, who went missing from Des Plaines on Feb. 22, authorities said.
Fredricksen's car was found in Evanston the same day she went missing, Des Plaines police said in a statement.
Evanston officers contacted Des Plaines police when the body was found because they were familiar with the missing person case, Des Plaines police said.
Des Plaines police are working with Evanston and the Cook County Medical Examiner's office to identify the body, police said.
An autopsy is scheduled for Monday.
