Police Believe Green Minivan Used In Waukegan Bank Robbery
WAUKEGAN (CBS) -- Police in north suburban Waukegan are looking for a green minivan with tinted windows in connection with a bank robbery Monday afternoon.
Police said a tall black male with a thin build, wearing all black, walked into the Seaway Bank & Trust at 1334 N. Lewis Ave., around 3:15 p.m. and displayed a black handgun and demanded money.
The robber exited the bank with an undetermined about of cash and left in what police said was a Chrysler or Dodge minivan heading west on Glen Flora Avenue. There may have been a driver in the van waiting for the suspect.
Police said the gunman was wearing a black ski mask.
"We are checking the bank's video to see if we can get a picture of the suspect," said Waukegan Police Cmdr. Gabe Guzman.
Monday's holdup was the seventh bank robbery in Lake County in 2011. There have been least 72 bank robberies throughout the Chicago area this year, according to the website Bandit Tracker Chicago.
