Police: Barrington High Student Sexually Assaulted Classmate
BARRINGTON, Ill. (STMW) -- A northwest suburban high school student has been charged with sexually assaulting a fellow student multiple times, police said Friday.
The 16-year-old boy, a student at Barrington High School, was charged Friday with criminal sexual assault, a Class 1 felony, according to a release from the Village of Barrington. He will be tried as a juvenile in Lake County juvenile court.
The boy is accused of sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl on three separate occasions between April 16 and April 26, the release said. The attacks occurred at the school, where the girl is also a student.
The girl first reported the incident to a friend on April 26, and the friend told school staff, who called police, the release said. The boy was immediately taken into police custody and has been suspended from school.
He is being held in the Hulse Juvenile Detention Center in Vernon Hills, the release said.
