Police Look For Leads At Hit-And-Run Site
DES PLAINES (CBS) – Three days after a Des Plaines teen was killed in a hit-and-run incident, police sought to generate leads by passing out fliers.
Under bright klieg lights, officers talked with motorists as they passed the spot where 17-year-old Choice Taylor was killed Friday night.
"Hopefully, we can trigger something in somebody's mind that they may have saw last week when they came through," Police Chief Jim Prandini told CBS 2's Mike Parker. "We've done it before and it does generate some leads."
Meanwhile, Taylor's peers stopped by to remember their friend and expressed hope the driver would be identified.
"I really hope they get this guy," classmate Kwana Coffey said.
Taylor, a senior at Main West High School, was walking home from his supermarket job Friday evening when, somehow, he became pinned in the rear wheels of a red or maroon semi-tractor truck that had no trailer.
Witnesses say the driver stopped briefly then continued on. The young man's friends came to the scene Monday to leave flowers, candles and other tributes.
"He was probably the sweetest person I know and it's really sad that he's gone," Jessica Kaiser said.
"He was such a good kid and you would never imagine this would happen to him," Coffey said. "I can't imagine how his family feels. They will be in my prayers every night."
