Police: Armed Men Hijack FedEx Truck, Driver Unharmed
CHICAGO (STMW) -- A group of armed men abducted a FedEx truck driver Monday night on the Northwest Side, stealing the employee's wallet and several packages before dropping him and the truck off in the Wicker Park neighborhood, police said.
At least one gunman approached the stopped truck about 9:10 p.m. Monday in the 6200 block of North Pulaski Road and ordered him into a nearby vehicle, according to police.
A jacket was put over the driver's head as he was held down the back of the van, police said. One of the robbers took the keys to the FedEx truck and drove away with the van apparently following.
The van stopped about an hour later in the 1600 block of North Paulina Street and the driver was ordered back in the truck and told to stay inside, police said.
The driver, who was not injured, told police the three robbers stole his wallet and several FedEx packages.
Grand Central Area detectives are investigating, but nobody is in custody Tuesday night.
