Plane Slides Off Taxiway After Landing At O'Hare
CHICAGO (CBS) -- An American Eagle flight slid off a taxiway at O'Hare International Airport, and the landing gear ended up stuck in the mud, after landing Wednesday morning.
American Eagle Flight 4332, operated by Republic Airlines, landed safely at O'Hare "in heavy rain and gusty winds," but the left side and nose landing gear slid off a taxiway while headed to the terminal, according to Republic Airlines spokesman Peter Kowalchuk.
The FAA said the plane was making a turn on the taxiway at the time, and likely slid off due to the rain.
The plane's nose gear got stuck in the mud. The 38 passengers had to be bused to the terminal.
The Chicago Fire Department assisted in getting passengers off the plane. No injuries were reported.
The plane, an Embraer E175, was flying into Chicago from New Orleans, and landed around 8:45 a.m., according to information from the city's Department of Aviation.
