Plainfield To Host 'Really, Really Free Market'
(CBS) -- Hundreds lined up before the doors opened at Plainfield United Methodist Church last year, and organizers of this year's "Really, Really Free Market" expect the same on Saturday.
"Doors this year open a little earlier at 8:30 a.m., so we expected people to be there probably an hour before around 7 or 7:30 a.m. We let the people in based on their order in line and everyone gets a ticket based on what time they come in," said event organizer Carol May.

Everything from clothes, to sports equipment to electronics will be up for grabs. Carol May says it's a way to help others in need, reduce clutter and help the environment.
"Many of the items will help those who may not be able to afford these kind of things, people in transition. But most importantly, his is a great event to have because you're keeping things out of the landfill. It's good for the environment and that's our first cause."
The church will have designated rooms, and patrons will be given maps if they're looking for something specific.
"We have our holiday room, we have our toy room, we have our sports equipment room, so they can go and choose what they would like. There is no checkout whatsoever," May said.
Donors are invited to drop off any unwanted belongings at the church. May says they get a ton of items so volunteers are going through all the donations this week.
"We have dozens of volunteers that are going through items that are weeding out things that would be inappropriate or not good to offer," said May. "If it's not something I would want in my home, we won't offer it to someone else either."
Each year May says, they get more and more stuff, including furniture, clothing, and toys
The Really, Really Free Market's purpose is to come together as a community to redistribute items that are no longer needed or wanted in order to put those items directly into the hands of those who can use or need them.
