Plainfield Man Found Guilty Of Sexually Assaulting Girl, 15
JOLIET, Ill. (STMW) - A southwest suburban Plainfield man accused of raping a 15-year-old girl at a party while the host's parents slept nearby was found guilty at trial this week.
Brian D. Peppers, 23, was convicted of aggravated criminal sexual abuse by a Will County jury Thursday after a four-day trial.
Prosecutors said he followed a Joliet West High School freshman into a bathroom at a friend's house on Feb. 28, 2010, and forced himself on the girl.
Their friend walked in on them, thought the sex was consensual and warned them that his parents were sleeping upstairs. Peppers then took the girl to the basement of the home.
Peppers' attorney, Julie Primozic, said witnesses from the party aren't credible, though. Primozic also pointed out the girl lied to her parents about going to the house, where minors were drinking, and the victim didn't try to make Peppers stop.
"Not once did she yell out," she said of the victim.
Will County Judge Sarah Jones is scheduled to sentence Peppers July 21.
