Pitching Can Keep White Sox Alive
CHICAGO (WSCR) Outside of Paul Konerko and his .324 batting average, 22 home runs, 64 RBI and 100 hits, the White Sox offense hasn't seen much success this season.
Adam Dunn has been a bust so far, and while Alexei Ramirez and Carlos Quentin are hitting well, they're clearly not the strength of this team.
"The thing that keeps this team in it though, and we've seen it and we continue to see it, ... is the pitching is outstanding," Brett Ballantini, of CSNChicago.com, said on the Danny Mac Show. "There's no reason to believe that that's necessarily going to start to slack off in any way. As long as this pitching is what it is, in this division, the White Sox have a shot.

"In terms of offense being the one to carry them, in terms of Adam Dunn putting the cape on and saying 'alright, jump on my back for August and we're going to find ourselves 10 games up when September rolls around,' highly doubtful. But as long as these guys throw the way they are, you know, deep, 12, 13 deep, Sox are in great shape."
