Pit Bulls Attack East Chicago Boy
EAST CHICAGO, Ind. (STMW) -- A 9-year-old boy suffered serious injuries after being attacked by two pit bulls Tuesday evening in East Chicago, Ind., the Post-Tribune is reporting.
Detective Terrance Fife said officers received a call at 4:49 p.m. that a boy was walking in the 3500 block of Pennsylvania Avenue when he saw two pit bulls coming toward him, and one of them attacked him as he ran.
The dog bit the boy on the right knee and left ankle, causing severe lacerations. The boy was taken to St. Catherine Hospital in East Chicago, Fife said.
The dogs escaped from a nearby yard and were captured by their owner, who returned them to his house, police said.
