Pistons' Andre Drummond Misses NBA-Record 23 Free Throws
(CBS) When the second half of Wednesday's Rockets-Pistons game began with a 56-47 Detroit lead, Houston employed a unique strategy.
The Rockets sent out seldom-used K.J. McDaniels, who fouled Pistons big man Andre Drummond five times in nine seconds, taking the Hack-a-Drummond strategy to a new extreme and continuing to employ it. Drummond's weakness from the charity stripe resulted in a dubious new record: He missed 23 free throws, the most in NBA history in a single game.

The Rockets' move worked initially. They overcame a nine-point deficit in under three minutes to tie the game, with Drummond going 5-of-16 from the charity stripe in that stretch.
However, the Rockets' strategy wasn't enough. Detroit eventually earned a 123-114 win in Houston.
When it was all said and done, Drummond hit 13 of his 36 free throws. The 23 misses passed Wilt Chamberlain and DeAndre Jordan, who each missed 22 in a game, the previous high mark.
