Pippen Suing Media Outlets That Claimed He Was Bankrupt

CHICAGO (CBS) Former Chicago Bull Scottie Pippen is suing a number of media outlets that claimed the star was bankrupt, according to TMZ.
As WBBM Newsradio's Bernie Tafoya reports, Pippen says he's never been worth less than $40 million in the last 10 years and he has filed a multimillion-dollar federal lawsuit against all media agencies that have claimed otherwise. Included in the lawsuit are CBSSports.com, CNBC.com and Arizona State University, according to TMZ.

Pippen claims he was included in a CNBC.com story about athletes who had gone bankrupt, while CBSSports.com used a photo of him in a similar story and Arizona State referenced him as a broke athlete in a law blog.
The story on the CNBC Web site in April was titled, "15 athletes gone bankrupt."
In January, CBS Sports ran its story headlined, "Money a problem for a lot of former players," with the picture of Pippen under the headline.
The lawsuit says the former Bulls star never filed for bankruptcy, and that his net worth has not been less than $40 million in the last 10 years.
Among those being sued are Comcast and General Electric, and CBS Corporation, which owns CBSChicago.com.
Pippen is seeking at least $1 million in damages from each media outlet named in the suit.
