Pilsen Community Holds Party To Benefit Employees Of Nuevo Leon

(CBS) -- The Pilsen community came together Tuesday night to throw a Christmas party for employees of a restaurant that was destroyed by fire early this month.

After a fire destroyed Pilsen's Nuevo Leon restaurant, residents are banding together to spread Christmas cheer to employees in need. After a fire decimated the 53-year-old restaurant Dec. 2, leaving at least 50 employees out of work, the Pilsen community has come together to present the employees with temporary jobs, money, gifts and even an all-expenses-paid employee Christmas party this holiday season.

Several hundred people attended the party at the National Museum of Mexican Art.

"I help the community, now the community is helping us," said Daniel Gutierrez, the owner of Nuevo Leon. "My employees, many of them get jobs now thanks to the people that own restaurants.
