ALSIP, Ill. (CBS) -- The Tri-State Tollway in Alsip was snagged by a multi-vehicle pileup resulting from three different crashes Monday evening.

Illinois State Police said at 5:43 p.m., three separate crashes happened near the same area and time on the northbound Tri-State (I-294) just northwest of the Cicero Avenue exit in Alsip.

More than a dozen vehicles were involved—including nine that state police described as "commercial motor vehicles." At least several of these were semi-trailer trucks, including a FedEx truck and an Amazon truck.
