Pierzynski Voted 'Baseball's Meanest Player' By Peers
(CBS) Sports Illustrated asked 215 MLB players to vote on the league's meanest player and the winner is...
White Sox catcher A.J. Pierzynski.
This really shouldn't come as much surprise as Pierzynski has butted heads with opponents -- and even teammates -- throughout his baseball career. He also happens to play the game harder than most players in the league and his efforts sometimes comes off as "dirty".
Also in the top five of baseball's meanest players is soon to be ex-Cubs pitcher Carlos Zambrano who comes in at No. 4 on the list.
Joining Pierzynski and Zambrano on the dubious list is Chase Utley at No. 2, Milton Bradley at No. 3, Vicente Padilla at No. 5, Alex Rodriguez at No. 6, Chris Carpenter at No. 7, Albert Pujols at No. 8, Nyjer Morgan at No. 9, Kevin Youkilis at No. 10, Josh Beckett at No. 11, Kyle Farnsworth at No. 12, Prince Fielder at No. 13, Jason Kendell at No. 14 and Mark Teixeira at No. 15.
