Phil Jackson To Help Pistons Find Coach
AUBURN HILLS, Mich. (AP) — Phil Jackson will help the Detroit Pistons search for a head coach.
The Pistons said Thursday night that Jackson will serve as an adviser.
"Phil Jackson is a friend and one of the best minds in the business," Pistons owner Tom Gores said. "We are thrilled to have him as an adviser as we make some very important decisions for this franchise."
The Pistons fired Lawrence Frank after a 29-53 season and 54-94 mark in his two seasons.
Jackson left the Los Angeles Lakers in 2011. The Hall of Famer has won 11 NBA titles as a coach, six with the Chicago Bulls and five with the Lakers.
"Tom and I discussed using a consultant as part of our decision-making process in our search for a head coach and we feel that Phil Jackson is a great resource to use," Pistons President Joe Dumars said. "I look forward to talking with Phil next week."
