Pfleger Urges Obama To Deal With Urban Violence
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Last week's shooting death of a Chicago teenager continues to draw outrage across the city.
WBBM's John Waelti reports from services at Saint Sabina Church on the South Side.
The shooting death of 15-year-old honor student Hadiya Pendleton last Tuesday has been the subject of Sunday sermons all across Chicago.
Pfleger Urges Obama To Deal With Urban Violence
Father Michael PfLeger of St. Sabina Catholic Church has long been outspoken on issues of urban violence. He made an impassioned appeal to President Obama to take leadership on the issue.
"We appreciate that you dealt with healthcare, we appreciate that you are dealing with pulling people out of Afghanistan but we don't appreciate that you are ignoring the violence in urban America," said Pfleger.
Pfleger, like other spiritual leaders on the South Side, is calling for people to speak out so that what he calls neighborhood terrorists can be taken off the streets.
