PETA Activists Draw Stares With Protest In Bed On Michigan Avenue
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Two protesters from People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), staged a brief anti-fur protest in their underwear Wednesday afternoon along the Magnificent Mile.
PETA Protesters Lie In Bed On Mag Mile
Jenna Cameron, 24, and her boyfriend Derek Ritchison, 30, laid in a bed on the corner of Michigan Avenue and Ohio Street – Ritchison in just his briefs, Cameron in bra and panties.
A sign over the bed read "Fur Out, Love In."
The skimpily clad PETA volunteers, lying under the covers, drew plenty of attention from pedestrians and their cameras.
"It really shocked me. I was like, 'Are you cold?' They said no," one passerby said.
The couple seemed to be more bothered by the sun than the 40-degree temperature.
"For me, right now, the sun keeps shining in my eyes, so it's really hard to look at cameras and smile, because we're getting blinded," Cameron said.
"I think walking back to the car in your robe is the worst part, because then people are like, 'What is he doing?'" Ritchison said.
Cameron added, "It's a little awkward."
