Michigan Man Shot Dead At Lyons Gun Range In Apparent Accident
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Michigan man is dead after being shot multiple times in the neck and head during an apparent accident Tuesday afternoon at a west suburban Lyons gun range.
The incident happened at Midwest Gun Shop, in the 8500 block of Plainfield Road in Lyons shortly before 2 p.m. on Tuesday, police said.
When police arrived, they found a person on the first floor of the gun range with a serious head wound, apparently from a gunshot.
Michael Babinski, 49, was shot multiple times in the neck and head about 1:55 p.m. in the gun range area at the Midwest Guns shop in the 8500 block of Plainfield Road in Lyons, authorities said.
Babinski, of Pickford Township, Mich., was initially taken in critical condition to Loyola Universtiy Medical Center in Maywood, where he was declared dead 5:36 p.m., authorities said.
Police are reviewing video surveillance from the gun store and right now are treating this incident as a possible accidental shooting.
Witnesses who were inside the gun range are also being interviewed.
