Persa Good To Go; Trumpy out For Season
(CBS) After leaving Saturday's game in the fourth quarter with what was described as "soreness" in his right foot, Dan Persa will start for the Wildcats on Saturday against Michigan.
Illinois' Michael Buchanan dived to make a sack and hit the back of Persa's right foot, who then limped off the field and did not return in the Wildcats' last-minute loss to the Illini. Head coach Pat Fitzgerald expects Persa to be good to go Saturday.
"Dan Persa worked out today and was great," Fitzgerald said. "We expect him to be great on Saturday."
Before that play, Persa was 10-for-14, four touchdown passes in his season debut. He had missed six games with a torn Achilles' tendon.
Not as fortunate as Persa, however, was running back Mike Trumpy, who was lost for the season with a torn ACL.
Trumpy led the Wildcats with a 5.2 yards-per-carry average.
