Perdue: Bulls Expected To Reach Conference Finals
Most people expected the Chicago Bulls to be an improved team from last season, the additions of Carlos Boozer, Kyle Korver and the rest made sure of that. But almost no one expected them to be this good.
"I know some of the rumblings in the front office and over at the Berto Center were, 'hey, this team has to get to the second round of the playoffs to be considered a successful season.' Not necessarily one they're happy with, but one that's successful," former Bull Will Perdue said on the Mully and Hanley Show. "The previous two years they go 41-41, make it to the first round and they make it respectable, and you know, the one year they take the Celtics to seven games."

But expectations can evolve throughout the year, and that's exactly what happened when the Bulls began their run up the standings.
"All of a sudden, as the season's progressed, you see how well they're playing," Perdue said. "Now the expectations have changed. I still think that in a seven-game series, if the Celtics are healthy, they're probably the team to beat in the East.
"At this point now, I think the expectations are to make it to the Eastern Conference Finals. The question is, who does it set up that they have to face in that second round, that they can possibly beat to get the Eastern Conference Finals?"
The Bulls have eight more games on their regular season, and travel to Detroit to play the Pistons on Friday.
