Peppers Sits Vs Chargers Despite Hope He Would Play
By Adam Hoge-
SOLDIER FIELD (CBS) Julius Peppers did not dress and will sit out Thursday night against the Chargers in the Bears' second preseason game.
Head coach Marc Trestman expressed optimism Tuesday about Peppers playing, but also added that it would depend on how he continues to progress from a minor hamstring strain. Peppers participated fully in Tuesday's practice, but the Bears were not wearing pads. He was limited Monday in the team's final padded practice before tonight's game.
The Bears are most likely just being cautious with Peppers, making sure he is ready for next Friday's game in Oakland, which will simulate more of a regular season contest.
Other Bears inactives Thursday night include:
RB Armando Allen
LS Patrick Mannelly
LB D.J. Williams
DT Henry Melton
OT Jonathan Scott
WR Earl Bennett
The Chargers' inactives include:
RB Danny Woodhead
LB Manti Te'o
WR Malcom Floyd
WR Danario Alexander
FB Chris Gronkowski
