Peppers: Game Will Come Down To Execution
The impact of this game has already been well discussed, both in the media and in bars. But a game this big, and this important to Bears' fans will mean nothing if the Bears don't win.
"It really is another game," Bears' defensive end Julius Peppers said. "I mean we all know it's bigger than just another game, but that's how we have to prepare, so it doesn't get too big for us. It means a lot, but at the end of the day we have to win the game, or it means nothing."
A win and the Bears will instantly become even bigger superstars in Chicago than they already are, but a loss will send fans quickly looking to forgot Sunday's game. And their attention will quickly be shifted to what's happening on Madison.
With that in mind, it's probably best if the Bears try to remove themselves from getting too caught up in the meaning and significance of the game. That's something they can enjoy after a win, but will represent nothing if they lose.
"We expect it to be emotional," Peppers said. "That will probably wear off at the beginning of the game."
The team that's able to maintain their focus and execute amidst all the hype, will likely be heading to Dallas.
"It's going to come down to who can execute the gameplan, it's as simple as that," Peppers said. "This week leading up to it, it's a lot of hoopla and a lot of hype surrounding it, but you have to still go out there and execute the gameplan. That's what's going to win it for us."
