Pedestrian Struck, Killed By Car In Elgin

ELGIN, Ill. (CBS) -- A pedestrian was struck and killed Friday morning on busy U.S. 20 in Elgin, police said.
About 4:20 a.m., a pedestrian was struck by an eastbound brown Ford van while the person was walking on U.S. Route 20 between South McLean Boulevard and U.S. Route 31 in Elgin, according to Elgin Police spokeswoman Sue Olafson.
The pedestrian, whose age and gender was not immediately available, was killed, Olafson said.
CBS 2's Kris Habermehl reports eastbound U.S. 20 was blocked between McLean Boulevard and Route 31 in Elgin. The westbound side remained open.
All lanes reopened about 6:25 a.m., Olafson said.
A spokeswoman for the Kane County coroner's office said they were notified but no further information was being disclosed at 10:10 a.m.
