Pedestrian hit, killed by car on Dan Ryan Expressway
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Illinois State Police on Sunday were trying to figure out how a pedestrian ended up on the Dan Ryan Expressway.
State police said at 1:38 a.m., a white Volkswagen was headed north on the Dan Ryan at 83rd Street when the car hit a pedestrian walking across the lanes of traffic.
The pedestrian died at the scene.
The driver who hit the person remained on the scene and was cooperating in the investigation late Sunday.
Following the crash, all lanes of northbound I-94 were diverted off at 87th Street for about three and a half hours beginning at 1:46 a.m.
The investigation into the crash continued late Sunday.
