Pedestrian, 87, Dies Weeks After Being Struck By Vehicle
CHICAGO (CBS)--An 87-year-old man died Thursday after being struck by vehicle while crossing a street in the Uptown neighborhood earlier this month.
Wayne Davis, 87, of the 900 block of West Wilson Avenue, was pronounced dead at Seasons Hospice at 10 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiners' office.
The accident happened about 7:05 a.m. Nov. 9 at Broadway and Lawrence, when the 87-year-old pedestrian was struck as he tried to cross the street, police said.
The driver left the scene, but was soon apprehended by police.
Michael Izeta, 26, of the 6100 block of North Damen Avenue, has been charged with felony aggravated DUI (resulting in serious injury).
He also was charged with striking a pedestrian in the roadway, failure to yield, two counts of driving under the influence, running a red light, driving without a license and driving without insurance.
