Peavy to Have Surgery Wednesday
Jake Peavy will have surgery to repair a detached muscle in his right shoulder on Wednesday of next week. If all goes as planned he will be throwing again by spring training and will have no lingering effects for the remainder of his career. With the loss of Peavy the Sox will need to address a long term option to fill his spot in the rotation.
With the White Sox playing as well as, if not better, than any team in baseball right now they have put themselves back in the race for the Central Division crown. Currently sitting 0.5 game behind the Detroit Tigers, the Sox have been mentioned in various trade rumors. Earlier on there was much talk of the Sox looking to add a bat to the lineup in Washington slugger Adam Dunn who is currenly hitting .279 with 20 HRs and an outstanding .934 OPS. But with Peavy's injury and impending season ending surgery will Kenny Williams turn his focus to adding a pitcher?
