Peavy Set To Return To White Sox Wednesday
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Jake Peavy is returning to the starting lineup for the White Sox Wednesday, 10 months after undergoing surgery on his right shoulder.
CBS Sports' Scott Miller reports Peavy is set to return to pitch against Los Angeles Angels rookie Tyler Chatwood. Peavy said Monday he is feeling great after his final game in the minor leagues following rehab, pitching for Triple-A Charlotte last week against the Toledo Mud Hens, Miller reported.
Peavy underwent his shoulder surgery during the offseason about 10 months ago. The White Sox had hoped to bring him back in April, but the plan had to be put to a halt when he developed tendinitis in his shoulder in late March, Miller reported.
Peavy's minor league starts for Double-A Birmingham were also halted because of muscle tenderness three weeks ago, Miller reported.
Thus, even though Peavy is set to return, the White Sox are considering going with a six-man rotation until they are sure his condition is stable, according to Miller.
