Peavy Not Key To White Sox Pitching

Jake Peavy's injury has been given a good amount of the attention this spring training. While it's important to discuss the injury, the Chicago White Sox will still have a very effective starting rotation without Peavy.

"I think that's the most overblown story of the spring," Phil Rogers, of the Chicago Tribune, said on the Mully and Hanley Show. "You never hear a peep out of [John] Danks or Gavin Floyd, they've quietly had good, solid springs. Edwin Jackson is there, as another guy in that mix of veterans who are always healthy, always on the mound.

"Peavy has gotten all of the attention, but I think Ozzie Guillen is right when he says 'this is my number-five starter, we're not going to depend on whether he's on the mound or his health.' I think that's right. I think the White Sox are going to have good starting pitching with or without Jake Peavy."

Phil Humber will be the White Sox's fifth starter until Peavy is ready to return to action. Peavy is expected to make a few rehab starts and could be back at the end of April.

Humber has a 5.26 ERA with a 2-1 record in 51.1 innings pitched over five season in the majors.
