Peavy Could Be More 'Excited' After Season Debut
CHICAGO (WSCR) After a horrific injury that forced Jake Peavy into surgery and 10 months of rehabilitation, he made his 2011 debut on Wednesday night as the Chicago White Sox beat the Los Angeles Angels 6-4.
"I'm excited as I could be to go out there and compete with the boys," Peavy said. "I'm excited that the Chicago White Sox won tonight. But I can't get excited about six innings and four runs given up, that's just me."
The former Cy Young Award winner came over to the White Sox in a trade with the San Diego Padres. In parts of three injury-plagued seasons with the White Sox, Peavy is 10-6 with a 4.20 earned run average.
Peavy's return makes for a crowded starting rotation. Instead of moving a starter to the bullpen, the White Sox have decided to go with a six-man rotation.
