Patrick Sharp To Miss 3-4 Weeks; Smith Recalled
Updated at 4:37 p.m. on January 9, 2012.
(CBS) Blackhawks forward Patrick Sharp has been played on injured reserve and will miss three to four weeks with an upper body injury.
Sharp suffered the injury in the first period of Sunday's 3-2 loss to the Detroit Red Wings. It's not exactly clear how the injury occurred as it wasn't obvious on the ice.
Before leaving the game, Sharp scored his 20th goal of the season.
Ben Smith has been recalled from Rockford to replace Sharp in the lineup.
It's been a rough stretch for the Blackhawks who have lost four games in a row and now one of their top scorers. They are tied with the Red Wings with 53 points in the Western Conference, two points behind the Vancouver Canucks who sit atop the West.
The Blackhawks host the Columbus Blue Jackets Tuesday night at 7:30 p.m.
