Patrick Kane To Miss 'About 3 Weeks' With Apparent Leg Injury
By Adam Hoge-
UNITED CENTER (CBS) — Blackhawks winger Patrick Kane is expected to miss around three weeks of action after leaving Wednesday night's 4-0 win over the St. Louis Blues with what appeared to be a lower left leg injury.
Blackhawks head coach Joel Quenneville confirmed that Kane will play again this season, but added "we're looking at about three weeks."
There's just over three weeks remaining in the NHL's regular season, so a return sometime around the start of the playoffs appears likely.
"He's a special player and we'll have to work our way through it knowing what he brings to our team," Quenneville said. "It's definitely a huge loss for us. We've been fortunate as far as not getting hit too hard (with injuries), but you're going to get tested at some point."
Quenneville said they'll replace Kane by committee and said the depth of their four lines that keeps them so consistent "will be exaggerated."
"Everybody is going to get a little bit more (ice time)," he said.
When asked if Kane's injury would impact the potential addition of center Teuvo Teravainen, Quennville simply said: "I don't know how that will play in."
Kane went down mid-way through the second period when his left leg was rolled up on by Blues forward Brenden Morrow. Morrow had been checked and subsequently fell on Kane's leg.
Kane was slow to get up and gingerly skated to the Blackhawks' bench. He sat there for a few moments before leaving for the locker room with trainers.
