Kane Out For "A Little Bit"
Add another name to the Blackhawks list of injured. After the Hawks 4-2 win over Calgary Sunday night, Joel Quenneville told reporters that winger Patrick Kane (11 G, 16 A), "will probably ... be out for a little bit. We'll know more tomorrow exactly where we're at with him."
Kane left Sunday night's game against the Flames after being hit just 38 seconds into the first period. He was checked into the boards by Calgary defenseman Cory Sarich. The hit seemed to jam Kane's left leg into the boards at an odd angle and he was unable to skate over to the bench. Play was stopped and Kane was assisted off the ice by Blackhawks' staff and taken to the locker room.
When asked exactly how long Kane could be out Quenneville answered, "I say a bit... You know it's tough to... We can speculate so... I don't want to go into it right now. It's not real serious. I'll go to that extent."
If Kane were out for any extended period of time it would be a costly injury to the Hawks. Marian Hossa is already out of the lineup with a lower body injury and Kane's 11 goals (tied for second on the team) and 16 assists (most on the team) are sorely needed.
The Hawks did end the night with a victory, however. Bryan Bickell, Dave Bolland and Jonathan Toews all found the score sheet. Bolland, in fact, netted two--one on the power play and one an empty netter late in the third.
