Patios To Stay Open Until Midnight For Al Fresco Dining
CHICAGO (CBS) -- If you like to enjoy a meal or a cocktail in the late summer night breeze, you'll no longer be limited to your own backyard or rooftop.
The City Council on Wednesday approved a test plan, which allows outdoor patios and rooftop gardens to stay open until midnight, through Dec. 1.
The plan was proposed by Ald. Brendan Reilly (42nd.) It affects 70 outdoor rooftop gardens and patios throughout the city that are currently required to close at 11 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, and midnight on Friday and Saturday, the Chicago Sun-Times reported.
The City Council says it wants to accommodate not only Chicagoans, but international visitors who like to stay out late.
