Passengers Evacuate Red Line Train Due To Smoke
CHICAGO (WBBM)-- Passengers were briefly evacuated from a Red Line subway train Wednesday evening due to smoke on the tracks.
A witness reported he heard a loud bang before the train stopped at Clark and Division just before 6 p.m. Wednesday evening.
Passengers reported smelling a "metallic" smell before one person ran from the last car to the front to stop the train as the conductor was closing the doors.
After stopping, conductors evacuated the train for "technical difficulties."
Officials said the train was delayed about eight minutes while crews resolved the problem and the train began moving again.
