Parking Problems Upset Residents Near Stevenson High School
LINCOLNSHIRE (WBBM) -- A parking shortage at Stevenson High School has prompted some homeowners in the surrounding communities to find a way to make a few extra bucks and that is causing an uproar with some residents.
WBBM's Mary Frances Bragiel reports, the parking shortage has been an issue for a number of years.
Eric Waggoner, director of Lake County Planning, Building and Development, says a rental agreement that allows a student to use nearby driveways is not sitting well with some Lincolnshire residents.

"[There has been] parking in large numbers in driveways, some driveways have been expanded," said Waggoner. "Students are cutting across lawns to get to school."
Rather than issuing citations, at least at this point, Waggoner says the county, Stevenson High School and Metra have partnered--allowing students to park in the nearby Metra parking lot.
"We have opened up some parking in the vicinity of campus." Waggoner said.
If residents continue to rent out their driveways, officials say, tickets will be issued.
