Parents Concerned About School During NATO Summit
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Parents and staff of several Chicago public schools will meet with police tonight to discuss their concerns about possible disruptions during the upcoming NATO summit.
Several schools near McCormick Place and in the so-called Loop Red Zone could be affected by security arrangements for the NATO summit, which is being held at McCormick Place on May 20-21.
Dr. Joseph Powers, principal of Jones College Prep High School on State Street near Harrison says his greatest concern is just the added difficulty of getting to and from school.

The school has canceled any after-classes activities during the NATO summit and is urging parents to make sure their children start out earlier to get school on those days.
Powers says it's up to CPS leaders to decide whether to call off school at the affected schools during the summit.
If it were up to him, "I think that would be pretty precipitous. No, I wouldn't do that."
