Paramedics Treat Revelers At Obama Party
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Paramedics were called to McCormick Place after receiving a report that more than a dozen revelers at President Barack Obama's election night gathering were overcome by heat-related illnesses.
Six people were taken to nearby hospitals, said Fire Media Affairs Director Larry Langford.
Thirteen people were treated and released by paramedics stationed at the election night party, Langford said. None of the injuries was expected to be life-threatening.
"It's nothing terrible," Langford said. "It's a little tight inside. People are just getting a little overheated and excited."
Some of the people treated were elderly or had breathing problems, Langford said.
The call went over radio scanners about 11:15 p.m., when some networks began projecting that President Obama would go on to serve another term in the White House.
