Cop, Paramedic, Store Clerk Hurt In West Side Incident
CHICAGO (STMW) -- A Chicago Police officer, paramedic and store clerk were injured -- and a fourth person subdued with a stun gun -- during a Tuesday afternoon incident at a Garfield Park store.
Police responded at 11:37 a.m. to call to "check the well-being" at a store in the 600 block of South Sacramento Boulevard, and found a person inside bleeding, said police News Affairs Officer Daniel O'Brien, citing preliminary information. Chicago Fire Department paramedics were also called to the scene.
It was unclear exactly what happened next, but a police officer, paramedic and store clerk were all injured, police said.
At least one officer used a stun gun to subdue a fourth person, who was taken into custody, O'Brien said.
The police officer suffered an arm injury and was in good condition at an area hospital, police said. The paramedic was taken in "stable" condition to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Fire Media Affairs Cmdr. Will Knight said.
Area North detectives are investigating.
