Pants-Less Intruder Arrested Inside Valparaiso Home
VALPARAISO, Ind. (CBS) -- A family returning home late on Thanksgiving night found an intruder who was not wearing pants.
At about 11:30 p.m. Thursday, police arrested Timothy Stephens, 60, of Valparaiso, at gunpoint on a charge of felony burglary.
The first person inside the apartment, in the 400 block of Franklin Street, saw an unknown person's pants and shoes lying in the living room, so he went back outside and called police. One of the residents then saw an unknown man through the living room window.
When an officer approached with his gun drawn, a pantsless Stephens opened the door. Stephens immediately said he lived there, gave his landlord's name and asked the officer if he was going to shoot him, according to the police report.
Stephens was wearing their child's Christmas stocking on his left foot, the victims told police. They also noted a number of items had been moved, although nothing was missing or damaged.
Outside, garbage had been taken from the exterior trash cans and left near the front steps.
A pocketknife the couple did not own also was found on the front steps.
