Pair Charged In String Of Armed Robberies
CHICAGO (STMW) -- Two Northwest Side people have been charged with carrying out a series of armed robberies over the last two months at retail stores in the Logan Square and Kilbourn Park neighborhoods.
Alfredo Medina is accused of holding up the stores at gun- or knife-point while Vanessa Marchan allegedly drove the getaway car for the robberies that happened between Feb. 1 and March 25, according to a statement from Chicago Police.
Medina and Marchan, both 19-year-old residents of the 2400 block of North Austin, were arrested after police issued a business alert on March 17 following three robberies.
Those incidents were reported on March 6, in the 2200 block of North Avers; March 11, in the 4400 block of West Belmont; and March 15, in the 3700 block of West Armitage.
In two robberies, Medina wielded a gun while demanding money and property from store employees, police said. He is acused of using a knife in the other robberies, but police did not specify the number of incidents.
Medina faces eight felony counts of armed robbery and Marchan faces four, police said. Both are scheduled to appear in bond court on Friday.
