Pair Arrested For Robberies Of Convenience Store, Donut Shop
CHICAGO (STMW) -- Police have arrested two men who are suspected of robbing late-night businesses on the Northwest Side.
Brian Lykins, 27, faces two felony counts of aggravated robbery and Emil Niemi, 27, faces one felony count of aggravated robbery.
The pair is suspected of robbing the same convenience store in the 2700 block of North Harlem Avenue on June 27 at 9:20 p.m. and June 17 at 1:30 a.m., and a donut store in the 5900 block of West Diversey Avenue on June 20, police said.
Twenty-fifth district tactical officers patrolling in the 5400 block of West North Avenue on June 28 noticed a black Mazda that matched the description of a vehicle used during the robberies, police said.
The officers performed a traffic stop and noticed the two men matched the descriptions of the suspects who had robbed the donut shop, police said.
One of the suspects, a convicted felon, has a tattoo of a horn on each side of his head, police said. Officers also saw a t-shirt inside the vehicle that was worn during one of the robberies.
The men were matched to surveillance footage from the robberies of the convenience store that had been robbed twice in the last ten days, police said.
Niemi was ordered held on $100,000 bond and is next scheduled to appear in court July 26. Court information for Lykins was not immediately available.
