Paintball Shooter Targets Chicago Man And His Bulldog
(CBS) -- A Chicago man walking his best friend -- an Old English Bulldog -- became target practice for someone shooting a paintball gun.
It happened near Paulina and Thorndale in the Edgewater on Wednesday evening.
CBS 2's Brad Edwards reports.
Dog owner Chris Albandia says his pet, Mugsy, was out to do his business when a car rolled up out of the alley.
A window in the vehicle went down, and then he heard multiple shots.
"They were looking to light us up pretty good," Albandia says.
They were not shooting bullets, but high-velocity paintballs. Mugsy took several hits.
"He was bleeding in a bunch of different places," Albandia says. "They got him pretty good. Part of me wants to say they were really looking to shoot the dog -- 'Hey, that will be fun.'"
Albandia – a former mixed martial-arts fighter, now a teacher and wrestling coach – took paintballs to the nose, hand and back. He ran Mugsy to safety and then went back to the street.
By that time, the vehicle had sped off.
The family says the shooters drove what appeared to be an older Jeep Cherokee with a loud muffler.
