Pace To Offer New Express Service To Brookfield Zoo

Podcast

(CBS) -- Pace wants to make it easier this summer for CTA riders to get to the Brookfield Zoo.

Pace express buses to and from the zoo will begin to operate Memorial Day on two routes. The CTA's Michael Guinn said one Pace route will pick up passengers from the Green Line Harlem and Blue Line Forest Park terminal. The other will originate at the Pink Line's 54th/Cermak terminal. Both lines will operate once an hour Saturdays, Sundays and holidays through Labor Day.

A third Saturday-only route will launch June 7, connecting the Red Line's 95th Street terminal with the zoo non-stop. There will be three round-trips offered.

Although Guinn said all will be non-stop from CTA terminals to the zoo and back, Pace will charge its standard $1.75 adult fare. Pace spokesman Patrick Wilmot said two children up to age seven will be able to ride free with each paying adult.
