Overnight Red, Blue Line Delays This Week

CHICAGO (STMW) - Overnight CTA riders should expect minor delays this week as crews do maintenance work on the Red and Blue lines.

Red Line trains in both directions will operate on the same track between the Sox-35th Street and Garfield station from 11 p.m. Monday until 4 a.m. Tuesday while crews do track maintenance, according to the CTA's website. The work will continue at the same time the next three days, ending early Friday.

As a result, passengers at the 47th Street station must board and exit all trains on the Howard-bound side of the platform, the CTA said.

Minor delays are expected, and the CTA advises passengers to allow extra travel time.

Passengers at the Irving Park station must board and exit all trains on the Forest Park-bound side of the platform during the work, and passengers at the Montrose station must do the same from midnight until 4 a.m. Tuesday.

The work will continue at the same time the following night, with passengers at the Montrose station boarding on the O'Hare-bound side of the platform for the duration, and passengers at the Irving Park station boarding on the O'Hare-bound side of the platform from midnight to 4 a.m. Wednesday.

Additionally, trains in both directions will operate on the same track between the Jefferson Park and Harlem stations from 10 p.m. Wednesday until 4 a.m. Thursday while crews do track maintenance. The work will continue at the same time the following night.
