Overnight I-90 Lane Closures To Start Monday For Bridge Construction
(STMW) -- Daily overnight lane and ramp closures are expected to begin Monday on the Jane Addams Memorial Tollway for bridge construction at Barrington Road in northwest suburban Hoffman Estates.
Weather permitting, work to install new bridge beams over I-90 is expected to begin the week of Monday, Jan. 12, according to a statement from the Illinois Tollway.
The project will include daytime concrete work in existing construction zones to complete the bridge abutment on the south side of the highway, according to the statement. Overnight lane closures will be necessary to assemble a 600-ton crane in the work zone and install 24 bridge beams.
One lane in each direction will close at 8 p.m., followed by a second at 10 p.m. and intermittent full closured beginning after 11 p.m., according to the Tollway. Temporary closures of the ramps leading from southbound Barrington Road to eastbound I-90 and from westbound I-90 to southbound Barrington Road will also be needed.
All ramps and lanes should be reopened by 5 a.m. for the morning rush hour, Tollway officials said.
